Meet the Music Agencies

The schedule for the FREE NZ Music Month Summit masterclasses presented by The NZ Music Managers’ Forum and NZ Music Commission is now available to view. There are limited seats available, so those interested in attending this event on Saturday 23rd May 2015 should RSVP torsvp@nzmusic.org.nz

Attendees are asked to arrive at 11.30am for a 12pm start. The attendees will be split into five groups on arrival and will take part in five masterclasses throughout the afternoon which will each be run by one of the music agencies and their representative. There will be 5 minutes inbetween each session to change room and grab a free refreshment courtesy of V Energy and H2Go water. Parking is available for $15 for delegates who have their ticket validated (parking tickets can be validated on the fourth floor).

AGENCY AND AGENCY REPRESENTATIVES

NZ ON AIR: BRENDAN SMYTH

Brendan Smyth is part of the Senior Leadership Team at NZ On Airwhere has worked since it was established in 1989. He set up and currently runs NZ On Air's music funding and promotions schemes. Brendan will be advising on how NZ On Air may be able to help fund your next step as a musician and help get your song out there via the broadcast media.

MUSIC COMMISSION: ALAN HOLT

Alan Holt is the Export Coordinator for Outward Sound at the New Zealand Music Commission, a government-funded agency committed to supporting NZ music businesses. Outward Sound undertakes projects and partnerships aimed at exporting NZ music and assisting music businesses in working internationally. Alan will be guiding attendees on the upskilling opportunities the Music Commission has to get your music business export ready.

RECORDED MUSIC NZ: DEAN CAMERON

Dean Cameron is the distribution & member services manager for Recorded Music NZ, a non-profit industry representation and licensing organisation for recording artists and their labels. Dean will be educating attendees on the Music Grants programme and direct-to-artist scheme.

CREATIVE NZ: CHRIS ARCHER

Chris Archer is Senior Arts Adviser (Music) for Creative New Zealand and is based in Christchurch. Chris will outline what Creative New Zealand (CNZ) does for the arts sector, outline CNZ's funding programmes and initiatives, explain the type of support that is available to contemporary popular music artists and provide some guidance on how to put your best foot forward when applying for funding support.

APRA AMCOS: ANT HEALEY

Ant Healey is the Head of New Zealand Operations at APRA AMCOS, which represents over 80,000 New Zealand and Australian music writers and publishers. Ant is also a Trustee of the Centre for NZ Music and the New Zealand Music Foundation. During the masterclasses he will advise on the different ways APRA AMCOS can help you earn income from your music.
