Bach Musica Nz Presents: Russian Choral Feast
Rachmaninov's divine choral masterpiece, The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, will be presented by Bach Musica NZ on June 14 at 5pm, in St Matthew-in-the-City. After completing the score in 1910, the composer commented ‘Not for a long time have I written anything with such pleasure.’
Enjoy 65 minutes of a cappella singing by candlelight with magnificent romantic Russian harmonies and the lowest notes you can possibly imagine: basses are required to sing several bottom Cs and even two bottom B flats, which can be felt as well as heard!
Bach Musica NZ is joined by Russian tenor Dmitry Rusakov, New Zealand bass Richard Green and soprano Emma Roxburgh.
