Spend your Queen's Birthday on Queens Wharf

Spend your Queen's Birthday on Queens Wharf

Queen's Birthday on Queens Wharf is back for 2015. Join in the festivities with a three-day free event filled with music, culture, food, industry and history celebrating England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The Great Queen’s Birthday Market will see lower Shed 10 transformed into a bustling mecca of stalls, art and live performance with more than 40 stalls. Snap up specialty imported British and Scottish products while you can, and indulge in the treasures on offer from local craft, art and fashion vendors. There’ll also be a dynamic art exhibit on display from community art collective The Street Loves Nana, for all the street spirit you could want.

Musical highlights over the weekend are a-plenty. Soloists from the Auckland Symphony Orchestra will perform British classics from the Last Night of the Proms. Two guest bands will also feature thanks to Play It Strange: Black Rock Descendents offering classic rock-pop hits from home and abroad; and the DeSotos taking to the stage with their powerful blend of rock-infused country blues.

Auckland Sport will have the crowds humming with matches of badminton, lawn bowls, croquet, tennis and SNAG Golf. There’s also the FIFA U20 World Cup Fever Pitch fan zone in front of Shed 10, celebrating the sport that the Brits go ballistic for.

One of the free films being shown over the weekend is the 2014 animated family classic, Paddington Bear. This will be accompanied by a (delicious) Teddy Bear’s Picnic, so don't forget your teddy and blanket for the film!
