Waikato resident scoops driving lessons with pro-golfer Ryan Fox
One lucky Te Awamutu man scored a round of golf with PGA champion Ryan Fox, after beating out over 600 other New Zealanders in the Holden #DriveLikeRyan Facebook competition.
Cameron Coombes, who usually spends his weekends perfecting his swing at his local Stewart Alexander Golf Club, will soon be teeing off with the top Kiwi golfer, enjoy lunch with Fox and drive a Holden Redline for the day.
The 28-year-old keen golfer and a friend will travel to Fox’s local club in Auckland to redeem the prize in June.
“I can’t believe I’ve won it! It’s incredible and I really look forward to a round of golf with Ryan. I’m highly addicted to the game and, on top of that, to drive a Holden for the day, it’s amazing,” says Coombes.
“I’ve been playing golf on and off since I was seven. My grandparent, who I spent a lot of time on the golf course with, passed away last year, so after Christmas I got back on the golf course and I’ve been playing a round of golf every week. I’m excited that I’ll get to meet Ryan and get some tips!”
Coombes will travel to Remuera Golf Course to spend the day with the Holden Ambassador in between his international golf commitments.
“I’m looking forward to a round of golf with Cameron. Hopefully I might be able to show him a thing or two and give him a few tips,” says Fox.
Fox recently placed second at the GS Caltex Maekyung Open in Seoul on the One Asia Tour, and will travel to Europe in July for the final stage of the European Tour and US tour qualifying schools.
