Cancer Survivor Provides Tips & Guidance for Those Having Chemotherapy

Cancer survivor, Andrea Fairbairn, is about to publish a heartfelt and hugely valuable book, sharing her Diary through her Chemotherapy journey together with offering tips and guidance for others experiencing this treatment to get through their journey as well & positively as possible.

Andrea Fairbairn is a mastectomy and chemotherapy survivor. Andrea’s education background includes Psychology and International Development which lead her into a career of international aid and development. Her experience includes assisting children and youth in Azerbaijan and Brazil through her work with United Nations as well as aiding Pacific nations through her work with New Zealand Foreign Affairs. Although passionate about her work, it had to be put on hold as she began her journey through chemo. Having been so focused on her career this challenged her to assess what she valued.

Entitled “Chemo and Back Again”, Andrea says this is the book that should be kept within arm's reach for anyone journeying through Chemotherapy.

It has important information about different types of Chemo, strategies for getting through the toughest days as well as tips on keeping as well as possible. It grants the reader permission to cry without feeling weak, to accept support without losing independence and encourages the chemo warrior not to take on the problems of the world but to focus wholeheartedly on their important journey through chemotherapy - and back again.

Commenting on her journey through Chemo, Andrea says “I wrote my real-time Chemo diary for myself, I wrote what I needed to hear when going through chemo. I needed to know how to prepare. What happens to your body. I needed to know how to make Chemo easier. I need hope and to believe that I could get through the Chemo and my cancer. Then, when I finished treatment, I wanted to know how to get my life back, how long that would take and how to find meaning and peace”.

“One day I realised I had accidentally written a book – a book that I hope will help other Cancer sufferers get through their difficult & challenging treatment journey”.
