MetService Marine App gets 80,000 downloads
31 July 2015
Developed in partnership with Maritime NZ, the App features marine weather forecasts, tides, and carries the “Get it on, or it’s no good” lifejacket safety messages. It was launched early last year.
“We know that, disturbingly, some boaties only check the land-based weather which doesn’t really help when a storm hits them on the Cook Strait or Hauraki Gulf,” says Lindsay.
Checking the marine weather via the Marine App is a crucial step for boaties to ensure they come home alive. Avoiding bad weather, and checking the tides - especially for bar crossings – is sensible preparation before heading out.
Download the MetService Marine App to your iPhone and Android phones from the Apple App or Google Play stores.
