Local Photographer Receives Prestigious Awards
Cromwell professional photographer, Janyne Fletcher has won gold and had her best year to date at the at the national Iris Awards held in Queenstown earlier this month. The Epson/New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP) Iris Awards atract thousands of top quality entries from around the country and overseas each year.
Janyne’s thought provoking tribute to the World War One soldiers from rural New Zealand was awarded a coveted Gold award. Her other prints which prominently featured Central Otago landscapes and illustra6ons achieved a further silver distinction, three silver and four bronze awards.
Janyne says “I am proud of where I live and I wanted to show off Central Otago to pro photographers from other parts of New Zealand and around the world. I was thrilled to achieve such good results at this year’s awards where the standard of work and professionalism of the judging is very high.
Janyne’s successes at these awards build on her achievements in previous years and earned her the distinction of a bar to to her NZIPP Fellowship. NZIPP distinctions are achieved through accumulating winning entries at the Iris Awards.
The support of people close to her is high on Janyne’s list of reasons for her ongoing success. She says “I really want to thank all of the people who were so tolerant when creative frustration set in, including my partner, my kids and my parents. Their support and encouragement has given me the confidence to pursue my dreams.”
In conjunction with the Golden Gate Lodge, Janyne is planning a an exhibi6on of her images. She says “I am looking forward to showing my latest award winning photographs along with other “favourites” from my porfolio. These will all be framed fine art prints, ready for people to hang.
We are working on finalising dates for the exhibi6on at the moment but we will be announcing these soon!”
