Cox eager for Coromandel Challenge

Cox Motorsport are excited to hit the gravel again at this weekend’s Mahindra Gold Rush Rally of Coromandel. Sloan Cox will again be pairing with co-driver Sarah Coatsworth and the duo are eager to secure a strong overall finish.

After a tough Rally Gisborne during which Cox struggled with car speed as a result of being out of the seat for so long and due to problems with the Taslo Engineering Mitsubishi Evo X, Cox has worked tirelessly to guarantee that the car is in the best shape possible for this event. A big thank you must go to RalliArt who assisted Cox in going over the whole car thoroughly and to Graham Neale of WRC Developments who managed to squeeze the car in for a dyno tune ensuring the car is as reliable and as smooth to drive as possible.

Cox and Coatsworth confirmed the test day that followed went really well, with a car that is now easier and more relaxing to drive. "I found I didn't have to push as hard to find the speed, the car was a lot more settled on the road and handled well" reveals Cox. Having missed last year's Rally Coromandel Cox is looking forward to competing on the new challenging roads and keen to prove he can get back to the pace he was at when he left the rally championship last year.

“It's good to have Sarah back in the car for this event. We have worked really well together in the past and with the car the way it is, I believe that together we are capable of a top result again,” states Cox.

Mahindra Gold Rush Rally of Coromandel commences with a ceremonial start this Friday from 4.30pm at Blacksmith Lane, Whitianga. The action kicks off this Saturday with the first stage of racing starting at 7.07am. Cox will tackle 132km over 9 stages including two tarmac super special stages, before finishing in Whitianga at 3.56pm.
