Hamilton wins in the US

Christchurch kart ace Matthew Hamilton has claimed a major win at a big street kart race meeting in California.

The multi-time New Zealand champion was invited to compete at the meeting by the team, Aluminos, he drives for in the SuperKarts USA Pro Tour series.

Lancaster is north-east of Los Angeles and the meeting attracted many of the drivers Hamilton competes against at Pro Tour events.

Though the track was new to him the Christchurch driver topped the S1 class time sheets in qualifying, finished second in the first heat race and third in the second then won the final (and main event race) by just over a second from top US drivers Fritz Leesmann and Ron White.

Hamilton returns home this week but will be back in the United States contesting the annual SKUSA SuperNationals meeting in Las Vegas between November 18 & 22.
