‘Tide;Continuum’ Exhibition Revealing Contemporary Photography in a New Light WELLINGTON, NZ

- October 9, 2015 / re.SPACE exhibition and event centre will present an exhibition featuring Wellington photographers Danni Arts, Samantha Ashton and Kelsi Reynolds. Tide; Continuum will be open to the public from 10am – 5pm daily from October 19-23, located at 176 Victoria Street, Wellington.

Tide;Continuum f eatures the artist's major projects that provides a resolution of their final Honours year of the Bachelor of Design degree at Wellington’s Massey University. Tide;Continuum compiles three historic shifts in photography, represented in a 21 st century context. Danni Arts revives photographic darkroom processes by revealing the magic that is lost with digital photography. Samantha Ashton uses modern technologies to document female gender roles of the 1950’s housewife. Kelsi Reynolds uses pinhole photography to capture the current remnants of historic Pā sites around the Wellington region.

While diverse in content, the works provide common ground for reflection.

Tide;Continuum considers how historic practices and ideologies have influenced photography as we see it today.

Danni Arts

Arts, Ashton and Reynolds are New Zealand based and hail from Matamata, Dunedin and Te Awamutu respectively. The trio recently exhibited at I n Good Company Gallery on Cuba Street, Wellington as a precursor to this diverse exhibition. “We are looking forward to sharing what four years of hard work and sleepless nights have ultimately constituted,” says Reynolds.
