Wellington’s Richter City Roller Derby league will host the final game of their 2015 season vs the neighbouring Swamp City Roller Rats from Palmerston North on Saturday 14 November at Kilbirnie Rec Centre.

Although NZ#4 ranked Swamp City has never played the #1 ranked Richter City All Stars in Wellington, these teams are no strangers – they faced off for 3rd and 4th place at the 2013 Derby Royale, NZ’s most recent national tournament, with Richter taking the win.

Roller derby players and fans from around the country will have an eye on this game, as the last time these teams faced off back in March in Palmy, the score differential was a mere 48 points in Richter’s favour.

Now in its seventh year of public competition, Richter City is the premier derby league in New Zealand. The All Stars are one of just two NZ teams who belong to the international Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

In June the All Stars returned from Canberra with their debut in the international rankings, and moved up 9 places in October following their performance against the WFTDA top 100 ranked Sydney Assassins. They’ll be looking to move up even further after the Victorian Roller Derby League Invitational in Melbourne, where they’ll play 3 WFTDA sanctioned games just one week after this final game of the 2015 season.

Spectators will have to get in quick for the limited number of seats available.
