For four summers long, Silo Park at Auckland’s revitalised Wynyard Quarter has been a place for Aucklanders to enjoy summer. Now in its fifth year, in association with Panuku Development and Fresh Concept, summer 2016 at Silo Park has kicked off and is proving to be better and brighter than ever before.

It’s soon to be a New Year, and what better way to turn over a new leaf than to celebrate with whanau and friends at Silo Park. A place where stories of Auckland come together, Silo Park is where people come to share, socialise and enjoy some time to themselves. This January, enjoy long sunny evenings and afternoons waterfront at Silo Park, for classic family entertainment, music, unique local gifts, and delicious, diverse cuisine - all inspired by the people of Tāmaki Makaurau. The weather’s turned on and summer’s heating up, so get down to the waterfront and enjoy the sea breeze drifting in at Silo Park, Auckland’s front porch.

SILO MARKETS
A New Year is a fresh start - and there’s no better place for a style and mood refresher than an afternoon at Silo Markets, boasting the very best makers and traders of hand-picked arts, crafts, gifts, fashion and accessories. Open every Friday evening from 5pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons from noon, Silo Markets are the ideal place to peruse for specially-crafted New Year treasures. Take it easy and enjoy the smooth summertime beats of local DJs throughout January, grab a cool beverage from the Silo Park bar, and when bellies start to rumble, tuck into a feast from deliciously fresh street food vendors. Mark out Sunday 10th January for a spectacular vintage treasure hunt with the curated Vintage Silo Markets, proffering selective vintage offerings from some of Auckland’s top vendors - with pin-up, rockabilly and vintage fashions and accessories as well as a vintage car display.

SILO CINEMA
Classic Silo Park entertainment returns with Silo Cinema this January. It kicks off with a bang on Friday 8th January, with upbeat action-comedy Top Gun thanks to PlaceMakers. PlaceMakers is Pumping Up your Summer with its limited-edition blow up couches and chairs at the Top Gun screening on January 8. Prizes are also available to win in-store for a limited time. The following Friday 15th January, take a leaf from a fashionista’s latest mag with the razor-sharp comedy The Devil Wears Prada starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, thanks to Metro, where you can be in to win 1 of 3 outdoor movie experiences with Metro and Holden Cascada.

Soak up the sun on Friday 22nd January wth Endless Summer, thanks to Havaianas. The month goes out with a dose of classic family cinematic magic with The Secret Garden, The Mayor’s Movie for January 2016. A seaside cinema experience is one thing; enjoying the film with friends, family and food really takes the cake. Before Silo Cinema kicks off, enjoy the delectable food and drink offerings available - Silo Park is proud to host the best mobile food vendors Auckland has to offer. Wash it down with a cool pour from the Silo Park bar, where you’ll find a broad range of local craft beers and delicious wines, or a hot coffee or chocolate for the perfect evening blend.

#PEOPLEOFTHEPARK
Within every Silo Cinema screening, you’ll witness #PeopleOfThePark: Aucklanders Speak - a compelling interview with an interesting Aucklander discussing what the past five years of Silo Park and greater Auckland means to them. Keep your eyes on the Silo Park Facebook page - to be inspired and surprised.

FOOD SPACE SILO PARK
There’s no better way for Aucklanders to get to know their neighbourhood and meet people from further afield than over a celebratory community meal. On Wednesday evenings throughout January, Food Space Silo Park brings a fresh weekly neighbourhood feast to Wynyard Quarter, with a perfectly curated selection of Auckland’s most well known and best-loved food trucks and stalls. Come by between 5 and 9pm to find a diverse variety of international cuisines will cater for tastes Auckland-wide; with different vendors each week, the selection will be listed on the Food Space website. The food offerings will be complemented by the Silo Park Bar serving craft beer and local wines. Music, DJs and entertainment will bring a relaxing vibe, perfect for sunny January evenings at Auckland’s waterfront park.

SILO SESSIONS
This summer, Silo Park is proud to present an incredible variety of live music and performance each Saturday through January with Silo Sessions. As if markets and movies weren’t enough, every Saturday, Auckland’s front porch will pop to life with incredible local and international music. So far on the cards, Saturday 9th January welcomes Australian artists Borneo and Jordan Léser to Silo Park for a one-off performance in the enchanting arbor under Silo7. Then on Saturday 23rd January Silo Park presents a very special open-air concert in support of Refugee Settlement New Zealand welcoming Syrian refugees to Auckland, with Neil Finn, The Topp Twins, Hopetoun Brown and more.

SILO EXCHANGE
Silo Exchange is a chance for you, the public, to come together and share ideas, skills and experiences. Be it a workshop, performance or conversation, Silo Exchange is the new Silo Park platform for bringing together Auckland and trading the intangible value we all add to Tāmaki Makaurau. The very first Silo Exchange to pop up in Silo Park will have hearts racing for summer seafarers in Auckland and beyond, with a Silo Exchange of fishing knots and tips on Sunday 17th January. When it comes to fishing, there’s nothing quite like shared knowledge, so if you’re keen on a bit of the old hook, line and sinker, head down to Silo Park to get the insider info from seasoned sailors.

SILO SOCIAL
Silo Social is back in swinging action come Sunday 24 January - watch this space for details on this foot-tapping, fun afternoon of dance lessons at Silo Park, to be announced in the New Year.

SILO PARK’S DAY OFF
Be aware that Silo Park will be closed to the public on Sunday 31st January 2016 - but will be back in action the following weekend.
