Scribe to share stage with West Auckland youth at Zeal's Summers Slams Festival

Henderson will come alive with the sound of Zeal’s Summer Slams creative arts festival on Saturday 19 December.

Featuring Kiwi hip hop icon Scribe, as well as top performing dance crew Freshmans and 2015 Pacifica Beats winners Reciprocate, the free festival isn’t just about the stars taking the stage, but also an opportunity for local artists and musicians to shine.

“Summer Slams is a celebration of young people out west,” says Zeal event manager Nate Telford. “It gives West Auckland young people a stage to express their creativity, whether they’re a band, singer-songwriter, rapper, photographer or a dancer.”

“We are super excited to have Scribe headlining and with street basketball, free ice blocks and a sausage sizzle going, it’s the ideal family-friendly festival.”

The majority of the Summer Slams performers have participated in artist development programmes at Zeal West, West Auckland’s creative arts youth facility.

Summer Slams is an all-ages, drug and alcohol free event presented by nationwide youth development charity Zeal.
