The inaugural Staircase Reunion in 2014 was a glittering highlight on that year’s Auckland Pride Festival schedule. A feverish level of anticipation from generations of gay nightclubbing aficionados resulted in pre-sale tickets selling out a week prior to the event!

This Waitangi Weekend – due to popular and emphatic demand – the legendary Staircase Nightclub will be resuscitated one more time with an unforgettable party that pays homage to the golden era of Auckland’s gay nightlife.

A 100% original Staircase DJ and DIVA line-up has been locked down for this special reunion event.

Three original Staircase drag divas – Bertha (now based in Sydney), Buckwheat and Tess Tickle – will be joined by three original Staircase DJs – Alex Taylor (now DJing around the globe from his base in Sydney), Bevan Keys and James Leuii – plus a galaxy of special guests from across the Staircase decades.

The Staircase was New Zealand’s quintessential queer nightclub. Opening its doors long before Homosexual Law Reform in 1986, the Staircase spanned three decades and three venues – first on Fort Street, then on Albert Street, and finally on Karangahape Road.

Proudly supported by 28 BLACK, the Staircase Reunion party on Saturday 6 February will play out across all three floors of the historic Galatos venue, just off Karangahape Road.

Tickets are already selling fast via iTICKET and in person at Real Groovy, Marcello’s Caffé and The Eagle Bar.

The full Staircase Reunion line-up – featuring a reunited roster of Auckland’s favourite old school disc jocks, drag divas and vintage live vocalists – will be announced soon…
