Christchurch’s Rising Stars Return Home
Christchurch’s Rising Stars Return Home
Expat Christchurch comedians David Correos and Eamonn Marra are returning home for a special one off ‘Work in Progress’ Comedy Show at Darkroom onSaturday January 23rd.
You couldn’t get two more different comedians as David Correos and Eamonn Marra. Correos is high energy, loud and confident and doesn’t shy away from grand physical feats, while Marra’s onstage persona is that of a nervous, shaking sweaty guy who is the type of person you would least expect to be performing stand up.
The only commonality between the two is their hometown, Christchurch.
Since leaving Christchurch in 2014 and 2012 respectively, Correos and Marra have gone on to do big things.
Correos is a 2016 nominee for the prestigious Billy T Award, joining the ranks of comedy stars such as Guy Williams, Rose Matafeo, Dai Henwood, Rhys Darby and Ben Hurley who have all been nominated or won the award before.
Marra won Best Newcomer in the 2014 New Zealand International Comedy Festival, and Highly Commended Newcomer in the 2014 New Zealand Fringe Festival and has been critically acclaimed for his vulnerable style and honest storytelling.
Both acts were recently featured in TV3’s AotearoHA: Rising Stars comedy special, which aired in December.
Despite being so different, the comedians have quickly become friends and during the filming for TV3’s AotearoHa: Rising Stars they decided to bring a show back to Christchurch.
Correos and Marra will present a Work in Progress, a show featuring new routines in preparation for the upcoming New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
They will be performing at the bar Darkroom, another return to home for the pair. Correos performed his first ever comedy set at the bar in 2012, and Marra was in the first band to ever perform in the space in 2011.
