Wellington band teams up with NZ’s Got Talent winner; Clara van Wel for new single ‘Radio Silence’
In 2015 Towers performed on comedy show 7Days, won national awards for songwriting & vocals, finished work on their debut EP Brontide, released their first single Suede & Leather Dreams and opened for Australian acts Dean Ray and Sarah Belkner. Now the group are releasing their single with former New Zealand’s Got Talent winner Clara van Wel.
Clara had been performing around Wellington, giving her fans a last opportunity to see her live before she jetted off to the UK to study English at Cambridge University - her dream of many years. The group were blown away by her abilities and were keen to try to write a song together - luckily the feeling was mutual.
Several intense writing sessions followed and ‘Radio Silence’ was born. The track is a perfect match of both Towers and Clara’s artistry, a modern pop-song with folk sensibilities and stunning harmonies.
‘Radio Silence’ was recorded at Newtown’s The Surgery, mixed by Zach Hilton of Loose Stones Studio in the Gold Coast (the same studio where Towers recently recorded their EP) and mastered by Mike Gibson at Munki Studios.
“It was a great experience working with another strong vocalist and songwriter in Clara. It really felt like we all bought the best out in each other and the song really flourished for it” – Jesse Finn, Vocalist
The video for the track was directed and shot in and around Wellington by local film maker Alex Liu. 'Radio Silence' is set for release on Tuesday 9 February.
