Get Inspired by Seaweek 2016 Competitions

NZAEE Seaweek is delighted to announce three national competitions for Seaweek 2016 with some fantastic prizes up for grabs sponsored by Hauraki Blue Cruises, Young Ocean Explorers, New Zealand Geographic and Pro Photographer, during New Zealand’s annual, national week about the sea.

The theme for this year’s Seaweek, which runs from Saturday 27 February to Sunday 6 March 2016, is “Toiora te Moana - Toiora te Tangata, Healthy Seas - Healthy People.

The Seaweek theme is the inspiration for the idea behind all 3 competitions. The first is a national children’s poetry competition, where entrants are asked to write a Haiku 3 line poem inspired by the Seaweek 2016 theme and illustrate it with a photograph. Email entries with your age and contact details to mels@subliminal.co.nz. Image must be attached to the email in JPG format with the poem text separate from the image in the email.

There are 2 categories: Age 10 and under and Age 11-16.

1st prize in both categories will be a Young Ocean Explorers branded mask & snorkel set, plus the Young Ocean Explorers book & DVD.

The Haiku competition judge will be widely published and performed Pacifica poet Doug Poole, who edits the Blackmail Press Poetry Journal and produced POLYNATION that headlined at literary festivals in Australia and New Zealand in 2008.
