How hot can it get at the Golden Shears Open?
The hottest TAB favourite in the history of the Golden Shears has become even hotter as the World’s biggest annual shearing competition enters its final day in Masterton today.
Hawke’s Bay shearer Rowland Smith is now paying just $1.30 to win tonight’s big six-man final over 20 sheep each.
The move, in from $1.40, followed the quarterfinals elimination last night of defending champion, Scotsman and Taranaki farmer Gavin Mutch, who fell just 0.135pts shy of a place in the 12 for this afternoon’s semi-finals.
Smith meanwhile was top qualifier, and Wairarapa hope David Buick became second favourite paying $7, Current New Zealand Open champion and 2006 Golden Shears winner Dion King is third-favourite at $10.
