Oyster Festival on Target

Oyster Festival on Target

Preparations are well underway for the 2016 Bluff Oyster & Food Festival at the Oyster Festival site in Lee Street, Bluff.

Expect to see most of the popular features of past Festivals when this year's event takes place on Saturday 21 May with plenty of succulent Bluff Oysters, southern seafood delicacies, other food options, quality beverages and of course great entertainment in the form of the traditional Oyster Opening and Eating races and a range of musical performers.

However one thing that will be missing this year is the Creativity Awards encompassing the Oyster Sack Fashion and Inspirations Of The Sea competitions. Early indications from prospective entrants was that entries would be lighter this year and in view of this organisers have made the decision to not hold the Awards this year.

However Festival Chairman, John Edminstin promises a great day will still be had by all. "We have another fantastic day planned and while our canvassing of potential entrants for the Awards showed a significant decline on entries was on the cards this year we still have a full day of activity and entertainment."

Tickets are selling well and are available from Ticket Direct, Barnes Wild Oysters in Invercargill and the Foveaux Dairy in Bluff. An adult ticket costs just $30 while children 14 and under are $10. Booking fees may apply.
