NZDF Release Name of Soldier
The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) can now release the name of the New Zealand soldier who died in a non-combat incident in the Middle East on Thursday 17 March, 2016.
He was Sergeant Paul Andrew Hartley, aged 30 from Auckland.
Plans are underway to repatriate Sergeant Hartley so he can be reunited with his family. When he is repatriated there will be a private ceremony with family and friends in attendance only.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
Sergeant Hartley’s family have asked for privacy at this time and the NZDF seek the support of media in respecting their request.
The NZDF have no further information to provide.
