Art in Structure Finalists on display this weekend at New Zealand’s First Pop-up Virtual Sculpture Park
The final public voting event for the Art in Structure Competition is to be held this Sunday (3 April) at Karanga Plaza in Wynyard Quarter. From10am - 5pm members of the public will be able to view the 12 final designs and vote for their favourite in each category.
Six designs from established designers and six works by emerging artists have been rendered into 3D and will be viewed at the event using iPads. The two winning designs will be announced at an awards evening at the Gus Fisher Gallery on Wednesday 6 April.
Easysteel Marketing Manager Neil Watson says the category winners will then move from the virtual world into reality:
“We are going to fabricate the two winning designs and then auction the finished artworks to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Our competition is about form and function so we are pleased it will result in the creation of artwork that is both beautiful but also gives back to the community.”
The inaugural Art in Sculpture competition challenged designers to use metal construction materials in a new way.
