Holder looks for strong start to championship

Mount Maunganui’s David Holder is excited to be a part of what he describes as the ‘biggest and best’ field that the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship has seen in many years.

Holder and co-driver Jason Farmer line up at the opening round, the DriveSouth Rally Otago, seeded fifth in the Stadium Finance Mitsubishi Evo 8, not far behind top seed and mentor Hayden Paddon and looking for a solid result to kick off his 2016 NZRC campaign.

Although he missed the event last year, Holder has fond memories of the Dunedin-based event, where he finished second overall the previous season in what was only his second ever event in a four-wheel drive car.

This year, a good result is as important as ever, with the team still searching to raise the funds required to complete the five rounds of the championship.

“We receive fantastic support from our team of partners, but our main focus is on doing our absolute best at Otago in the hope of attracting more sponsorship for the remaining season,” says Holder.

Holder is proud to announce however that he will continue relationships with multiple partners from last season including the likes of Stadium Finance, Endless Brakes New Zealand and Reaction Racing amongst many others, while also welcoming aboard Farmline Machinery.

“Farmline Machinery coming on board has really made getting to the start line possible, quite literally as company directors John and Liz have put their hands up to drive the teams service vehicle all the way to Otago and join us for the event,” says Holder. “The team at Farmline have simply been amazing! When you're greeted with a hug rather than a handshake you know you've found something special, we feel really blessed to have their support.”

The Stadium Finance Evo is looking sharp for this weekend’s event thanks to the work Andre from Amplified Customs, who has worked his magic with a new look for the 2016 season.

After a ceremonial start in Dunedin’s Octagon on Friday night, Saturday 9 April sees teams head as far north as Oamaru before returning south via the infamous Dansey’s Pass to the traditional tarmac super special in Dunedin to finish the opening day. The following day sees a further nine special stages to the west of Dunedin before the finish, held at the railway station, from 3.25pm.

Holder Brothers Racing would like to thank the sponsors that make their campaign possible; Stadium Finance, Farmline Machinery, Force Automotive, Reaction Racing, Endless Brakes, Monit Rally Computers, Amplified Customs - Signwriting, Attentive Design, Paramount Performance, Tauranga Beaurepaires, Dunlop, Motul Oil NZ, Sew Hot Monograms, Mount Wheel Alignment, Team Ralliart NZ and Hayden Paddon.
