“A compassionate Judge, a thoughtful and caring man, and someone who can take us into a safer future for our nations’ women and children,” is how Chief Executive of Women’s Refuge Dr Ang Jury describes the appointment of Judge Andrew Becroft in his appointment as future Children’s Commissioner.
“I have seen the fair and considered work of Judge Becroft over the years, and with the immense change now facing our child protection services, I have faith that his appointment will ensure the concerns of those who work in the field of domestic and family violence are heard,” she says.
“Judge Becroft will pick up the good work of outgoing Commissioner Dr Russell Wills,” Dr Jury says, “I am confident Judge Becroft will provide a strong voice advocating for the needs and priorities of children to bring about a better future for New Zealand families and whanau.”
