Air Force Water Polo Team To Compete In National Tournament
The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) water polo team will take on provincial sides this weekend at the New Zealand Tier Two National Tournament at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre.
This year is the first time the mixed gender team has competed at national level since the early 1980s.
For the team, attending this tournament and competing at national level is the result of 10 year’s of concentrated effort.
Team manager Warrant Officer (W/O) Dave Dean said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the team to compete in the tournament. We thank the RNZAF and New Zealand Water Polo for supporting the effort of the players and management in achieving such a milestone. The team is excited and is looking forward to the tournament.”
The Woodbourne, Ohakea and Auckland teams trained since the beginning of the year for the RNZAF Interbase tournament, held last month. The RNZAF mixed gender team was named two weeks ago and has been at a training camp since 17 May.
Should media wish interview or photograph the team please contact Charlotte Moffatt by emailing charlotte.moffatt@nzdf.mil.nz by 4pm,Thursday 19 May.
