Wellington Brass equal record with 4th consecutive National Championship

Wellington Brass has won their 4th National title in a row over the weekend at the National Brass Band Championships in Napier, and by their biggest margin yet. The win comes at a good time as the band prepares to take on the best bands in the World at the famous British Open in Birmingham in September this year.
Musical Director David Bremner saying “this band takes nothing for granted and this win feels every bit as good as the first, I am so proud of the band and the work they put in year after year to represent Wellington at the highest standard. It’s the perfect result leading up to Birmingham and we couldn’t be more excited about getting over to Symphony Hall and seeing how we stack up against the best bands in the World.”
Wellington won both major works at this years contest and achieved 2 nd place in the marching and sacred item to take out the aggregate with a margin of 5.5 points.
With the National Championship being held in Wellington in April 2017 the band will get the chance to become the first band to win 5 in a row in front of their home crowd – an exciting prospect for a band that was competing the B Grade less than 10 years ago.
