Off the Cuff : It’s about to get real
Man your stations cos it’s about to get real at this months’ Off the Cuff, Nelson’s monthly improv show at the Theatre Royal on Friday 19th August at 7.30pm.
In a departure from what might be considered “standard format” for improvisation shows, Off the Cuff also combine real stories from their improvisers with impromptu re-creations, re-imaginings and re-tellings. “Improvised theatre is so much more than the games and novelties that people have seen on television and is often their only previous experience with improvisation so I wanted the audience to get to know a bit about the performers”, says Artistic Director Laura Irish.
Inspired by the evenings’ theme and audience suggestions, the improvisers tell real stories about their first kiss, holiday nightmare, favourite childhood toy, worst breakup, scariest movie and more. So we don’t know if it’s going to get real scary, real funny, real dramatic, real romantic, real villainous, real serious, real thrilling or real suspenseful, but in line with this months’ theme, we do know it’s about to get real.
So hang up your rod and reel and put up the ‘gone fishin’ sign’ and head down to the Theatre Royal for a really great evening of improvised music, comedy and drama.
