Kiwi Film maker off to EMMY’s
While attention will
be on the stars, big budget films and series, one of New
Zealand’s film makers will be joining them all on the red
carpet at this year EMMYs. Being invited to attend is a
significant recognition of this filmmaker based in
Christchurch.
Kiwi Film and Stage Producer/Director Craig
Hutchison is heading to the red carpet glamour event for
this years EMMYs in Los Angeles on 18 September. And this
is preparation for further international production work
with UK involvement.
Being a Co-Executive Producer on a LA film ÄNNE FRANK MEETS GOD”, and working closely with LA Producer and Acting Coach, Peggy Lane O’Rourke, Craig has been invited to attend this event, along with an invitation to the Governors Ball – a prestigious function following the EMMYs
Craig has received great accolades for his two short films shot here in New Zealand a couple of years ago.
The two short films were: ‘Letter For Hope’ and ‘Utu Pihikete’ are both written by Wellington writer April Phillips. Several LA producers and directors have praised Craig’sstyle of direction and imagery of stories. Craig says his film focus is about the actor telling the story and the story being told with close intense camera work. He says if you put the camera into the person then the camera itself sees the story within the character. The camera of course is the audience
Our two short films won
several gold statuettes for excellence from several
festivals. They sit on display at his home, with great
pride. The smile on Craig’s face remains even after a
couple of years since receiving them
Naturally Craig is
targeting the EMMYs and who knows the OSCARS for his own
projects both here in New Zealand and USA
Currently Craig and his team are working on a period drama based here in New Zealand with a UK involvement. This will be on the same grand scale as Downton. There are two other features that he is planning. BUT not to sit back and rest, Craig has been invited to direct in LA – a trailer for a short film and a trailer for a network series in the US.
