WILD CARD PERFORMERS COWBOY WARWICK SCHILLER AND AMANDA WILSON ANNOUNCED FOR EQUIDAYS’ FRIDAY NIGHTSHOW

Equidays has just announced Warwick Schiller and Amanda Wilson as two surprise ‘wild cards’ go head-to-head in the Friday Nightshow’s invitational Horseware Ireland Double Slalom.

Warwick Schiller is an International Reining Champion and trainer from the USA. This will be Schiller’s third appearance at Equidays, where he will also lead educational clinics.

Talented New Zealand horse trainer Amanda Wilson is one of the famous Wilson Sisters trio, and will be bringing her mustang Bragg to the Nightshow where she will be riding him bareback.

They will join the 14 other riders in the double slalom, which involves two horse-and-rider combinations racing head-to-head on identical courses, against the clock and each other in a showjumper versus eventers ultimate showdown.

With Equidays just days away, interest in the event is high. Tickets for the Saturday Nightshow, Horseplay and Hijinks, have already sold out and there are less than 300 tickets left for the Friday Nightshow. “It is going to be a fantastic event, so anyone wanting to come along should get in quickly to secure tickets,” said Equidays event manager Ammie Hardie.

The Friday Nightshow, Showjumping Spectacular, begins at 6.30pm at the Mystery Creek Events Centre. Spectators will also enjoy watching the G.H. Mumm Champagne Grand Prix. The event will feature New Zealand’s most talented showjumpers navigating their horses around a technically difficult course with jumps set at 1.45 metres.

Barrel racing, a timed event where horse and rider compete for the fastest time over a clover leaf pattern, has been added to the Nightshow line-up and is certain to be a crowd-pleaser.

The announcement of the two wild card entries in the Double Slalom race, and addition of the barrel racing, will attract more people to the Friday Nightshow, said Hardie. “It’s going to be very exciting to watch, and we expect tickets will sell out quickly,” she said.

For tickets visit streamticketing.co.nz or call 07 866 4256 ($30 online or $35 at the gate if not sold out prior). Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 6.30pm, and will finish around 10pm.

SATURDAY NIGHTSHOW TICKETS UP FOR GRABS ON TRADEME

Those who missed out on tickets to the Saturday Nightshow may still have a chance of winning them on a TradeMe auction for charity. The auction, which closes on Thursday night, 13 October at 10pm, is for two highly sought after Equidays Grand Prix tickets.

Grand Prix tickets give access to the full three days of action-packed equine entertainment at Equidays as well as entry to the two Nightshows – the Friday Nightshow – Showjumping Spectacular, and the sold-out Saturday Nightshow - Horse Play and Hijinks. Money raised will be shared evenly between the two Equidays 2016 Charities - Arthritis New Zealand and Equine Pathfinders Foundation.
