Adrian Taihia Announces his Retirement
New Zealand 34 year old boxer Adrian Taihia, announced his retirement on facebook after an eight year boxing career.
Taihia just came of a lose against Robert Berridge by unanimous decision for Berridge’s NZPBA title. The two have had a long rival that's been 5 years in the making. The fight itself showed Taihia fighting in a Floyd Mayweather style, however it was his low punch output that let him down, despite Berridge getting stunned in the 7th round. The Judges scorecard were 99-94, 97-95, 98-93 in favour of Berridge.
A few days after the fight Taihia took to facebook expressing his frustration of the decision of the fight and felt he was robbed. After his loss he lost the passion for the sport and announced his retirement.
In Taihia eight career, he has won the New Zealand National (NZPBA version) Super Middleweight title, WBF (Federation) Oceania Super Middleweight title and the WBA - PABA Light Heavyweight title. Taihia has fought few notable boxers including Kariz Kariuki, Gunnar Jackson twice, Togasilimai Letoa, Sakeasi Dakua and Robert Berridge.
