The Giant Weta has Landed! But Where Will it End Up?
The Giant Weta has Landed! But Where Will it End Up?
In August 2016, The Giant Weta wowed 70,000 people at Black Rock City, Burning Man, Nevada, USA, taking pride and place on the playa amongst other artwork from America and around the world. She was admired, climbed over, photographed, enjoyed and was the backdrop for two weddings! After a long journey to and from Black Rock City, The Giant Weta is back home and is currently being prepped for Kiwiburn: New Zealand’s Regional Burning Man event, held 25–30 January in Hunterville!
“We’re so excited to announce that the Weta is finally home. She is currently being prepared by the Weta crew for its first New Zealand outing at Kiwiburn,” said Project Manager Hippathy Valentine.
The Giant Weta will travel to a number of festivals throughout New Zealand this Summer before a permanent home is found for her.
“The question now is, where oh where will the weta end up?” said Hippathy.
Auckland Burners welcomes enquiries from cities and towns across New Zealand that would like to receive The Giant Weta as a gift for their community to enjoy.
