Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - Christchurch pulls off epic outdoor concert
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band wowed more than 30,000 fans in Christchurch tonight with three hours of heart-stopping, jaw-dropping, hard-rocking good times.
Vbase General Manager Darren Burden says Springsteen and his band gave it all they had for the people of Christchurch. “If the smiles on the faces of the crowd were anything to go by, then the night was a big success.
“It’s something Vbase has worked really hard to make happen and to have the night go down as well as it did is hugely rewarding.”
Concert goers started arriving at AMI Stadium from dawn, enjoying the sun and pre-concert hospitality throughout the afternoon.
“The warm weather created the perfect summer’s night for this epic outdoor concert.”
As expected, traffic in the Addington area was heavy, but there have been no reported incidents and the traffic management plan was well executed. Onsite security issues were also at a minimum.
“All the crowd were in high spirits and enjoyed themselves responsibly,” he says.
This is only the second international concert that Vbase has run at AMI Stadium, but it hopes there will be more to come for Christchurch.
“We don’t get the opportunity to run events like this in AMI Stadium very often, and being a temporary stadium makes things logistically challenging, so it really puts the team to the test. The hard work and planning has paid off and it sets us up well for future events.
“This has been a huge win for Christchurch and Vbase will be doing everything we can to secure more events like this for the city,” Darren Burden says.
