Home Alone Music is proud to announce the release of Lake South’s debut album If You're Born On An Island The Ocean Heals You. Three years in the making, the record covers all the joys and sorrows of life in New Zealand: loss, acceptance, new love, moving to Auckland, renting, landlords, student loans, the dole, smart phones, and binge drinking.
If You’re Born On An Island was recorded in Auckland with Joshua Lynn at Thinkt Studios and features guest vocals from the inimitable Penelope Esplin (Grawlixes, French for Rabbits) and Nadia Reid. Felicity Herberston (Flix Rose) lends her sublime voice to ‘Good Keen Man’ and Seamus Maguire provides the album’s bass, while drummer Eddie Crawshaw (Sheep, Dog & Wolf) adds a human element to the record’s electronic core.
Lake South’s first long player since the dissolution of Urbantramper includes Silver Scroll nominated single ‘Good Keen Man’ along with indie-radio/blog favourites ‘Renters’ and ‘Binge Drinking & D.H. Lawrence’. The fourth single is the synth laden sing-along ‘Coast / Whanarua Bay’.
Lake begins his album release tour in Dunedin on March 24. The VNZMA Critics’ Choice finalist will perform his sentimental synth-pop live, as a two piece, with bassist/vocalist Seamus Maguire. NZ tour dates below (tickets from undertheradar.co.nz). Europe and Canada shows will be announced in the coming weeks.
