Immigration delay causes uncertainty regarding two events

Uncertainty regarding Fringe Festival events Africa Entsha (Soweto) and Stimela the Musical (South Africa)

The Dunedin Fringe Festival has learned that a delay with immigration processes may prevent two Festival events from going ahead. Acapella vocal group, Africa Entsha and song and dance phenomenon Stimela the Musical are currently programmed at St Paul's Cathedral for 7pm and 8.30pm on Thursday 16th and Saturday 18th of March. Festival director Josh Thomas said that although the situation was complicated, he would continue to closely monitor the situation before announcing an official cancellation. “It’s very unfortunate that we’re not able to provide festival-goers with certainty at this late stage, but we want to ensure that every possible avenue is explored before we officially cancel these events,” he said. “There’s every chance these shows may go ahead as planned, but it’s equally important to us that Fringe audiences are kept informed about the uncertainty, so that we avoid disruption and disappointment as much as we can.”

Mr Thomas confirmed that the artists had maintained an absolute commitment to performing their shows and that the Festival office would continue to keep audiences updated on progress via its website and social media. He encourages ticket-holders and interested audience members to regularly check the website for updates. In the unfortunate event that one or both shows need to be cancelled, any tickets purchased will be fully refunded.
