Inaugural ArtsTech Speed Dating even
New Zealand's Inaugural ArtsTech Speed Dating event brings Tech Innovation to the Classical Performing Arts in Tech Week

Centre, 9 May 2017
What if
the New Zealand performing arts sector was infused with
science and technology in the same way that our agriculture
sector, our film industry and our high performance sports
sector already are?
Other sectors have been significantly transformed by scientific advances and by the rich digital ecosystem that has emerged over the last two decades, but orchestras, ballet and opera companies have hardly been touched by this revolution.
What if New Zealand reinvented each of these art forms for the 21st century by deliberately combining performing arts with science and technology at every level of artistic endeavour?
From new materials to protect dancers feet in pointe shoes, to wearables that help musicians avoid repetitive strains, to integrating audiences' heartbeats into live performances, there is the opportunity for New Zealand to be the first in the world to infuse the classical performing arts with science and technology.
ArtsTech could enrich our cultural lives, our cities and our economy.
New Zealand is perfectly placed to bring its arts, science and tech sectors together to lead the world in ArtsTech innovation and it's starting on Tuesday 9 May with New Zealand's inaugural ArtsTech Speed Dating event organised by Dr Stephanie Pride of StratEDGY Strategic Foresight.
The event is in three parts, with showcases open to the public at the beginning and the end and a high-energy speed-dating section in the middle for invited expert participants from the three sectors.
