Festival wrap up
Head On Student Prize Winner, Sophie Smith
An outstanding festival draws to a close. Head On Photo Festival 2017 kicked off with a blast at the Festival Launch with the announcement of winners at UNSWAD and the world premiere of Maggie Steber's exhibition. A large contingent of overseas and interstate guests joined in a truly memorable evening.
For the opening weekend, we Headed On to Paddington for a plethora of exhibition openings, artist talks, workshops and panel discussions all within walking distance of the festival's central hub.
A diverse program offered many different genres of photography by artists at all career stages. In addition to the regular program, this year the Head On Team, produced seven public installations as well as curated and produced 48 exhibitions and screenings. The festival continues to provide a major platform in Australia for photography to be widely seen.
This year we were fortunate to reconnect with our past partners as well as welcome new ones. A big thank you to all our partners without whom the festival wouldn’t happen.
An even bigger thank you to our Festival volunteers for the many hours spent on installation, the festival launch and gallery-minding.
We listen, to you the supporters of the festival, so that we can continue to improve. Please invest ten minutes of your time by completing our visitors’ survey below.
