Capital wine festival to hit waterfront

Wellington’s waterfront park, Waitangi Park, is set to play host to the city’s favourite Wine, Food and Beer event – the Wellington Wine & Food Festival – this Saturday from 12pm.

Now in its fourth year, the festival features a selection of wineries and breweries from Wellington and further afield who are accompanied by 14 top restaurants each creating a specially crafted “pop-up” style menu for the event.

Menus from local restaurants have been crafted to meet a $8 per item price cap, offering festival-goers the opportunity to sample multiple items from a wider range of vendors throughout the day. A wide array of options will be on offer, from burgers and tacos to dumplings, fried chicken, pasta, and even whitebait fritters. Restaurants have catered to the various dietary requirements, with multiple gluten and/or diary free, vegetarian, and vegan items available.

Festival vendor manager, Thomas Buchanan, says “We’re stoked to be able to have such a great range of options on offer this year. Everyone has come to the party and so many of the food items look so good – I don’t know how people will be able to choose, they might have to try one of everything!”

Accompanying the top notch food and beverages on offer will be a quality line-up of entertainment featuring acclaimed performers Hollie Smith, The Steinbenders, Mel Parsons, the Tyson Smith Trio, and local crowd favourites Newtown Rocksteady.

A limited number of tickets for the event are available via the main festival website or directly on Eventbrite.

Further details for the event, including full food menus and pricing, beverage options, and ticketing, can be found online atwww.wineandfoodfestival.co.nz.
