I’ll Be Back Catalogue: A new NZ Comedy Guild
nominated Podcast celebrating pop culture and showcasing NZ
comedians
Steven Lyons and Mike Kevan are two Auckland local comedians, sharing their love of the classic (and not so classic) movies starring Austrian strong-man, the Governator himself - Arnold Schwarzenegger. I’ll be Back Catalogue takes on Arnie’s films one at a time, in chronological order, from the beginning with wonderful local comedian guests. The show’s debut season was nominated for ‘Best Comedy Web Series, Podcast Or Radio Series’ in the 2017 Nz Comedy Guild Awards and featured Arnie’s first 6 movies, with some weird and wonderful gems, culminating in the classic Conan the Barbarian. The podcast is back in 2018 with new episodes being released every monday from January 29th as hosts Steven & Mike make their way into Arnold’s 1980s catalogue with a killer line up of guests including Penny Ashton (Oliver Copperbottom, Hot Pink), Sam Smith (writer for Jono and Ben, 7 Days and The Project), Alan McElroy (The Classic Comedy Bar, Crack Up Comedy Quiz), Uther Dean (Award winning playwright & Raw Comedy Quest Finalist 2017) and Louise Beuvink (writer & star of Ladylike: A Modern Guide to Etiquette).
Steven Lyons moved back to Auckland after performing and training for 7 years in the Chicago comedy scene, in his short time back he has already been making his mark in the comedy scene in Auckland, hosting his Shore Funny, a comedy showcase on Auckland’s North Shore, becoming a Raw Comedy Quest Finalist 2017 and performing at Auckland’s Town Hall with The Improv Bandits and Whose Line Is It Anyway’s Colin Mochrie. Mike Kevan is a recent immigrant from the UK, and started doing stand-up in London, before moving out to Auckland. Mike was Raw Comedy Quest Semi-finalist 2017 and is a regular host of Comedy on K-road.
The podcast features a variety of local talents including many hot new and well established local comedians as they dissect a new Arnie move each week for laughs and hilarious commentary.
