Young Professionals take the lead with Workshop

Survey and spatial professionals of all ages will get a chance to learn all about how to put their skills to good use for overseas aid projects in early September with the first ever Volunteer Toolkit Workshop – organised by Survey and Spatial New Zealand (S+SNZ) Young Professional’s group.

As sea-levels rise, population and food shortages increase, land becomes an increasingly sought-after commodity. Surveyors and spatial professionals have the skills to help increase land tenure security with their surveying and mapping skills, particularly following natural disasters. They help set up a solid measurement foundation for emerging nations to grow from. This toolkit day has the potential to be the first small step in starting up a sustainable volunteering initiative for those who attend.

The session is supported by the University of Otago School of Surveying and Allterra Ltd. Dunedin South’s MP, Clare Curran will be opening the session on the 8 September.
