Rangi Ruru Student Wins National Road Race Title
Charlotte Spurway has today taken out the U16 National School Road Race title in Loburn, 45 minutes north of Christchurch.
Rangi Ruru’s Cycling Coach, Marc Prutton, says it was a close finish in a very competitive age group.
“It was a bunch sprint finish up a long slight incline where she timed her sprint well showing she is clearly one of the best in New Zealand in her age group. Charlotte keeps getting better and better, steadily growing in terms of her ability which bodes well as she heads into next season in the U17 age group,” he says.
Rangi Cycling Manager, Pamela Schreurs, says Charlotte will now focus on the national club championships in April 2019 with the hope of international select again following that.
This is the first time in the history of Schools Cycling that the National School Road Championships have been held in Christchurch.
