Announcing the winner of the President’s Award
The winner of the inaugural President’s Award is Mary
Amour for her work ‘Conversation over ‘A bigger
splash’ . Congratulations.
President of the NZ Academy of Fine Arts, Greg Chaston, comments “The work is a smart well-constructed piece with references to David Hockney’s pool paintings, and offers an interpretation that is both fresh and original while still engaged in the Hockney palette. The interaction with the other person in the painting brings to mind an interviewer whom the artist offers a myriad of options and answers to his questions.
I am very pleased to award the inaugural President’s Award to Mary Amour.”
Visit the Academy Galleries at 1 Queens Wharf, Wellington to view Mary’s painting and the myriad of other works in this year’s members’ Summer Exhibition.
The galleries are open daily from 10 am. Entry is free – koha is appreciated.
