NZ Theatre Month: September 2019
Playmarket and the NZ Theatre Month Trust is delighted
to announce the return of NZ Theatre
Month this September and is calling on all
theatres nationwide to get involved with this, the second
annual programme.
In 2018 the inaugural NZ Theatre Month celebrated an impressive 615 separate performances and 143 discrete events of New Zealand Theatre Month Trust. Professional theatres and community organisations joyfully championed local theatre treating audiences from Northland to Southland to a raft of performances, workshops, open days, discussions and exhibitions.
With this and the next three years confirmed, September is set to be the month that the country revels in everything that is theatre. Applications are now open for all organisations nationwide to register and get involved in this incredible month of festivities.
“Telling our stories with our voices and our sensibility is essential to our identity. Let's fill September with all the colour and vibrancy of what it means to be a New Zealander”. – Alison Quigan
Organisations are encouraged to register their production, open day, theatre tour, exhibition, quiz, post-show Q&As, celebration of leading practitioners, or workshop. From audio-described or relaxed performances to complimentary tickets to first-time attenders – as long as it’s New Zealand created theatre, anything goes!
