“River Ghost”: Waimakariri ghost story to be premiered in Rangiora

Following the success of their previous theatrical ghost stories (Turn of the Screw, The Woman in Black, Nevermore, etc.), NO Productions Theatre Company presents a new supernatural thriller “River Ghost”.

Written by local playwright David Allen and directed by Eilish Moran (The Court Theatre), this absorbing story is set in 19th century New Zealand, on the banks of the Waimakariri, river of cold rushing water, and will be premiered at the Rangiora Town Hall on 15 and 16 March at 7.30pm.

… He has lost his memory. She has him back. They are husband and wife, she says. He is safe, she says. So why lock the door at the top of the stairs? On the mighty Waimakariri, water isn’t the only danger…

“Theatrical ghost stories have become something of our specialty” – says Nataliya Oryshchuk, Ukrainian-born founder of the company – “It is very fitting that this original New Zealand piece is to be premiered at the beautiful Town Hall in Rangiora, the heart of the Waimakariri region. We are thrilled to be sharing this North Canterbury story with North Canterbury audiences”.

The show stars David Allen and Nataliya Oryshchuk.

PG 13 recommended: supernatural themes.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes, no interval.
