Challenge Wānaka is thrilled to announce HiveEnergy as the new Title Partner for this year’s multi and duathlon event, which will now proudly be named the HiveEnergy Challenge Wānaka Multi & Duathlon, taking place on Saturday 18 October.

HiveEnergy is a family-owned and operated NewZealand business with a mission to revolutionise the world of sports nutrition. Already well-known to many in the Challenge Wānaka community as the official nutrition sponsor for February’s Triathlon Festival, HiveEnergy is now taking its commitment to the next level by supporting the multisport community as Title Partner for Challenge Wānaka Multi.

HiveEnergy is more than just a brand — it’s a labour of love born out of a deep passion for natural sports nutrition and a strong commitment to fuelling athletes with the best possible energy for their performance. Co-founder Kirsten Beeby, a keen sports nutrition enthusiast and co-owner of Parakore Honey, started HiveEnergy after realising through her own athletic journey just how important it is to properly fuel the body for peak performance. Through research and experimentation, Kirsten discovered the natural power of honey as an effective, clean energy source.

From concept to reality, HiveEnergy has been on a journey to shake up the energy gel market with its innovative range of honey-based products. While Kirsten is the brains behind the product, husband Stephen is the driving force — bringing years of experience in launching successful ventures. Together they form a powerhouse duo blending creativity and strategic vision to deliver performance nutrition that’s clean, natural and highly effective.

The honey used by HiveEnergy is sourced exclusively from NewZealand’s pristine landscapes, known for their superior agricultural products. This carefully selected honey is blended and refined to create a gel that provides optimal performance, taste and digestibility — an ideal choice for multisport athletes who need clean, reliable energy during long, demanding events.

The HiveEnergy Challenge Wānaka Multi & Duathlon continues to grow from strength to strength, with a 50% increase in participant numbers in 2024 compared to the previous year. Highlighting its rising appeal within the multisport community. This growth is further emphasised by the fact that the event is attracting both experienced athletes and newcomers to the sport — a testament to its inclusive and supportive spirit.

“Steve and I are delighted to be involved with the growth of this event, which kicks off the multi and duathlon season in a sport that our family is very passionate about. We can’t wait to see athletes powered by nature and experiencing the buzz HiveEnergy brings,” says Kirsten Beeby, HiveEnergy Co-Founder.

“It’s fantastic to welcome HiveEnergy as our new Title Partner for the Challenge Wanaka Multi & Duathlon,” says Jane Sharman, Trust and Event Director. “Their dedication to natural performance nutrition and their genuine connection to our community make this partnership a perfect fit.”

The HiveEnergy Challenge Wanaka Multi & Duathlon will once again bring together adventure enthusiasts of all levels to celebrate the spirit of multisport against the stunning backdrop of Wānaka’s iconic landscapes.

Competitors take on a 25km kayak across Lake Wānaka, followed by a 43km mountain bike through diverse trails, and finish with a 14km trail run showcasing the region’s breathtaking landscapes. Or you can skip the kayak and sign up for the duathlon option. Whether solo or in a team, this event promises an epic challenge in one of the world’s most scenic multisport destinations. With HiveEnergy on board, athletes can look forward to an event fuelled by nature, family, and a shared passion for pushing limits.
