Sense Of Place: A Tapestry Of Belonging

This year, The Gallery Havelock invites us into a timeless conversation between artist and perspective with the art exhibition "Sense of Place." On display are works by 14 of the gallery’s resident Marlborough artists—including Bonnie Coad, Liz Downey, Rick Edmonds, Val Griffith-Jones, Steve Halton, Tony Matthews, Clarry Neame, Sue Syme, Saskia Smith, Jarod Udy, Renate Von Petersdorff, Troy Warring, Glen Waters and Colin Wynn.

The gallery will host a welcoming reception on Thursday, 21 August 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Expect a gentle buzz of anticipation as locals and visitors gather to celebrate creativity grounded in place—an evening alive with conversation, discovery, and community spirit.

Running from 22 August to 12 September 2025, “Sense of Place” unfolds across the gallery’s two welcoming floors, open daily from 10 AM to 4 PM. Each piece threads a personal story into the broader narrative of Marlborough—a region shaped by sea, sound, forest, and human experience.

In “Sense of Place", each work is more than a visual delight—it is a vessel for connection, carrying the textures of Marlborough’s hills, the scent of its tides, and the quiet rhythms of its seasons.
