Ōtautahi 4 Palestine Announces Dynamic Community Fundraiser
An evening of music, poetry, performance, art and kōrero kicks off at 5pm on Saturday 13 December in support of Gaza at A Rolling Stone, 579 Colombo Street.
Organised by Ōtautahi 4 Palestine – a collective of artists, educators and advocates – the event seeks to raise funds for families in Gaza through creative solidarity.
The fundraiser begins with poetry, performance, discussion and an art auction, and continues until late with music and dance.
From Arts Laureate Ariana Tikao (Kāi Tahu) and multidisciplinary storyteller Juanita Hepi (Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngātiwai, Ngāpuhi) to Palestinian scholar Lara Sheehi and DJ Nazarite, the packed line-up features a range of performances, activities and contributors.
Event spokesperson Dr Mahdis Azarmandi says Ōtautahi 4 Palestine has been thrilled by the generous support to date and invites one and all to purchase a ticket and head to A Rolling Stone to stand in solidarity with Palestine.
‘We are creating this event to harness culture and music as tools of resistance, building spaces for connection and solidarity. Can’t attend? You can still support through a donation or raffle ticket.’
Doors open at 4.30pm. Tickets can be purchased at Humantix or are available on the door. Two prize bundles are also up for grabs via the raffle.
