For the first time in New Zealand, a national meeting of Kiwis interested in the current and future state of amateur sport from throughout the country, are meeting to discuss the challenges and opportunities of providing sport to local communities.
Among the issues to be raised and discussed at the Forum, (which will be held in Wellington with many attending via ZOOM), is the impact of funding on the ongoing viability of clubs and participation, challenges in attracting and retaining volunteers, and the increasing complexity of compliance.
Association Chair, Gordon Noble-Campbell said, “we’re delighted to be able to host an event which is long overdue for community sportspeople. While this Forum is just the start of an important national conversation, I can see that by providing this opportunity, and by the level of interest shown, we can expect the momentum for an annual event to build from here.”
The inaugural National Amateur Sport Forum which has been organised by the New Zealand Amateur Sport Association Inc. takes place on Tuesday, 21 April, from 4.00pm.
