Chelsea F.C Women To Face Auckland FC Women’s Invitational XI As Part Of 2026 NZ International Football Festival

Auckland will host some of the biggest names in women’s football this winter, with the announcement of a headline clash between eight-time WSL champions Chelsea F.C Women and an Auckland FC Women’s Invitational XI as part of the New Zealand International Football Festival at Eden Park.

The International Football Festival is proudly supported by the New Zealand Government’s Events Attraction Package and Auckland Council Events, through Tātaki Auckland Unlimited.

The match will take place on Saturday 8 August and will see one of the world’s leading women’s clubs take the field in Aotearoa, offering local fans a rare opportunity to witness elite international talent up close. This match joins the previously announced men’s fixture of Tottenham Hotspur up against Auckland FC on Sunday 26th July that has already seen over 30,000 sales across the Men's game and the Spurs Open Training.

Chelsea F.C Women are one of the most dominant clubs in the global game, consistently competing at the top of the Women’s Super League and UEFA Women’s Champions League. Their visit marks a significant moment for women’s football in New Zealand, highlighting the continued growth and global appeal of the sport.

They will take on an Auckland FC Women’s Invitational XI, bringing together a squad of top local and regional talent, assembled ahead of Auckland FC Women’s historic entry into the A-League Women in 2027. This is also likely to include players currently a part of Auckland FC’s Women’s Talent Development Centre, as a recognised Centre of Excellence and delivered in partnership with New Zealand Football.

The New Zealand International Football Festival celebrates football’s unique ability to bring communities together, inspire the next generation, and deliver world-class sporting experiences. The festival will feature a range of activity across Auckland, including open training sessions and corporate events to complement the on-field action.

With the global profile of Chelsea F.C Women and growing interest in the women’s game across New Zealand, strong demand is expected, with fans encouraged to secure tickets early.
