TEC Appointments Positive
The first appointments to the Tertiary Education Commission are positive for business, says Business New Zealand Chief Executive Simon Carlaw.
The appointment of NZQA chief Dr Andrew West as TEC chair signals a strategic role for the Tertiary Education Commission, focused on the clients of the tertiary education system - business and the community, Mr Carlaw said.
Mr Carlaw said Professor Kaye Turner's appointment as deputy chair was also positive, as Professor Turner had demonstrated concern for the links between business and education in her role as deputy vice-chancellor at Waikato University and her past work in Africa helping businesses surmount compliance costs would also be relevant.
