Quality Thinking, Direction Clear
Quality Thinking, Direction Clear, Positive For Industry Training
The Industry Training Federation (ITF) today congratulated the Tertiary Education Advisory Commission (TEAC) for their vision of an integrated tertiary education system.
“We simply cannot afford to be timid. We need an innovative and responsive tertiary education system and it must be fully integrated – this report absolutely sets us in the right direction,” said John Blakey, Chair of the ITF.
Amongst a number of recommendations, TEAC recommends the development of a single integrated funding system to support a seamless tertiary education system.
“This is bold stuff. This is exactly what industry needs, what New Zealand needs, and gives us confidence that as the detail is developed we’re moving forward rather than defending the status quo,” he said.
Industry Training has grown from strength to strength in the last four years – growth is strong, funding from both government and industry has increased substantially, and training outcomes are significantly improved.
“Industry and Industry Training Organisations welcome this report, commend the Commission for their courage, and look forward to working with the Government to develop these recommendations into new policies,” said Mr Blakey.
