Business NZ Applauds Tertiary Strategy
13 December 2001
Business NZ applauds the Government's draft Tertiary Education Strategy for its close alignment with critical growth priorities.
Chief Executive Simon Carlaw says the goal of increasing connection with business bodes well for NZ's future competitiveness and prosperity.
"The strategy appears firmly fixed in the real world - focused on skills, incentives, information flow and measurement," Mr Carlaw said.
"A welcome feature of the strategy is the fact that all of its objectives have outcome indicators - measurements by which their success can be gauged.
"The strategy is a change in gear from the ivory towers of the past, with the ability to significantly lift New Zealand's economic performance. Action is now what is needed."
